Returning to the Drawing Board
It is important that before you start a blog, you should take consideration of working more on your creative side and thought for the web and also private art projects. It is true that I run a free illustration blog, but I have not been doing so for some times. I do have a blank page set aside, and I consider it is a sign I was waiting for to begin. A while ago I had written a blog about the simplest things that we love for breakfast. Below are some of the steps I took from the beginning to the end.
For me getting an inspiration was pretty easy. I usually love a lot of things about breakfast, and I had to ensure I bring creativity into the topic. I needed paper cups and box of raisins and took the photo. Apart from visual motivation, I also wanted to have different colors incorporated as well as drawing techniques. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I have always loved interior design blogs since I was a child.
The next step I took was sketching the coffee cup. I wanted to be creative, so I did not draw just a cup but decided to go with a floating cup. I later on decided to add moons and stars so that it can look more of a celestial theme. After I finished sketching using a pencil, I later defined it utilizing a black pen. When I choose the technique, yes I did make a lot of mistakes, but I learned from it. I never went to any art school that would guide me and also teaches me on how to draw nice drawings. Instead I used to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings and play video games. It is important to know that am a poor drawer and I cannot draw a good picture of you even if I tried. After I finished tracing over the pencil, I left the drawing to dry. During this time of waiting I began my next illustration.
As my first illustration dried up, I started drawing a box of cereal sitting on a tree stump. I got inspired by a blog that I viewed about wooden furniture. I choose to draw a garden because I had already drawn the moon and the stars. My next illustration was to color the drawing which I enjoyed a lot.For the cup I used a box of crayons and colored pencils. I had a clear vision and I tried to bring it to the drawing.
